The Vega Musical Conservatory exists so that the tools, sounds, and hard-won knowledge of generations of musicians don't disappear — and so the next generation can pick them up and play.
We house and care for iconic, timely, and otherwise special instruments, equipment, and musical knowledge — and we digitize at-risk recordings from reel, cassette, and VHS before they're lost for good.
Every instrument we touch gets its life story recorded — from its maker, through every owner, to today. We catalog the recordings, perspectives, and legacies that surround each piece, building a lasting record of the generational knowledge of the arts.
The collection isn't a vault — it's a spark. We share it with students, schools, and communities of every kind, including those the music world too often leaves out, and we bring musical legends face to face with the musicians of tomorrow.
Through our doors and out in the world. The Conservatory opens its doors for special events, and takes its assets on the road — into schools, programs, and communities — like a traveling circus of inspiration and musicality.
Into loving homes. Instruments donated to the Conservatory are re-distributed through scholarships, programs for individuals in need, and partnered educational programs — each one leaving with its documented story.
Person to person. While we have living legends among us, nothing replaces meeting them. Programs like our mentorship with Bobby Vega connect working artists directly with new musicians, made possible by supporters of the mission.
